Part 3: Analyze the impact of scarcity in 3 places.

The Problems of Scarcity

Although an infinite supply of professional clarinets and goods used to produce said clarinets would be nice, this is impossible due to scarcity. I will face scarcity because I have an unlimited want for products that will produce my factory's professional Clarinets. For example, there is a limited market for Clarinets because so many clarinet players already own a clarinet; in a similar vein, only a small percentage of the earth's population play (or are even interested in) the clarinet. I will face scarcity in many areas, like the timber, the silver, the workers, and even the machinery.

Scarcity Examples

Scarcity of Timber: On the Earth, there is a set amount of trees. With a limited number of trees, only a certain amount of timber can be produced from the felled trees. With such a high demand for timber around the world, my factory can only purchase a limited amount of timber for the production of professional clarinets. I have an unlimited want for timber to produce clarinet shafts, but there are limited resources. For timber, the impact of scarcity's crippling reign can be lessened through the efficient use of resources; if very little of the purchased timber is wasted, then the scarcity of the wood can be lessened.

Scarcity of Silver: Silver for clarinet keys is expensive. Also, Earth has only provided a certain amount of silver, much of which is stored away in museums and antiques stores. There is only a certain amount of silver on earth, and many businesses and individuals desire the possession of silver. I would love to have tons of silver to produce an infinite amount of clarinets, but life deems otherwise. I have an unlimited want for silver, but Earth dictates that there is a limited amount of silver. For silver, the impact of scarcity can be lessened by reusing the flash from the molding process and using that for the creation of more pieces in the future.

Scarcity of Labor: In the area near my factory, I can be sure that there will be a limited amount of labor for my factory. Many of the citizens of the surrounding area will already be employed in other professions. Additionally, few people will know how clarinets work, and those employed to test finished products will be limited. To lessen the impacts felt by the scarcity of labor, my factory could offer to hire people in a larger radius, and even offer experts moving expenses to ensure that their lives are easier if they decide to move to the city that houses my factory.

Will it Ever Go Away?

Unfortunately, scarcity and the problems that come with it will never be vanquished. The Earth can only offer humanity a certain amount of resources for us to use, and if we continue to use and to sell those resources, we will eventually run out. Additionally, humans will continue to have an insatiable amount of desires, and the amount will be unable to be matched due to the limited resources of planet Earth.
